Pitswap Buyer Protection Policy

Last Updated: April 30, 2026

PitSwap is committed to making every transaction safe, fair, and transparent. This Buyer Protection Policy explains what protections buyers have when purchasing parts on the platform, how disputes are handled, and what buyers can and cannot claim.

1. What Pitswap Buyer Protection Covers

Pitswap Buyer Protection applies to all completed transactions on the platform and covers the following situations:

1.1 Item Not as Described

You are protected if the item you received is materially different from how it was described in the listing. This includes:

  • The part is a different brand, model, or specification than described in the listing text
  • The part has damage, defects, or wear that was not disclosed in the listing and is not visible in the provided photos
  • The part is a different condition than listed (e.g., listed as "like new" but received with significant wear or damage)
  • The part is missing components that were described as included in the listing

1.2 Item Not Matching Photos

You are protected if the item you received is materially different from what was shown in the listing photos. This includes:

  • The item appears to be a different part entirely from what was photographed
  • Damage or defects are clearly visible in person that were not visible or were concealed in the listing photos
  • The photos were of a different condition or specification of the part than what was actually sent

1.3 Seller-Guaranteed Fitment

Fitment issues are generally not covered under Buyer Protection, as buyers are responsible for verifying compatibility before purchasing. However, you are protected if:

  • The seller explicitly stated in the listing description that the part would fit a specific vehicle make, model, year, or trim level, AND
  • The part does not fit that specific vehicle as guaranteed by the seller

For clarity: if a seller does not make an explicit fitment guarantee in the listing, fitment issues are solely the buyer's responsibility. PitSwap strongly encourages buyers to verify compatibility independently before purchasing.

1.4 Item Not Received

You are protected if your item does not arrive within a reasonable timeframe. If tracking confirms the item was not delivered and the seller cannot provide evidence of successful delivery, you are eligible for a full refund.

2. What Buyer Protection Does NOT Cover

The following situations are expressly excluded from Buyer Protection:

  • Fitment or compatibility issues where the seller made no explicit fitment guarantee in the listing
  • Buyer's remorse or change of mind after purchase
  • Damage caused by incorrect installation, improper use, or modification after receipt
  • Items that have been installed, modified, or altered after receipt — installed parts cannot be returned under any circumstances unless a fitment guarantee was explicitly made and is verifiable
  • Normal wear and tear consistent with a used part, where condition was accurately described
  • Disputes raised more than 7 days after the buyer confirms receipt, or more than 12 days after confirmed delivery if the buyer did not respond
  • Transactions conducted outside the PitSwap platform
  • Buyer dissatisfaction with part quality where the listing was accurate and complete

3. Escrow and Payment Release

To protect both buyers and sellers, all transaction funds are held in escrow by PitSwap following payment. Funds are released to the seller as follows:

  1. The buyer confirms receipt of the item through the PitSwap platform — funds are released to the seller within 1 business day of confirmation.
  2. If the buyer does not confirm receipt within 5 days of the confirmed delivery date (as shown by tracking), funds are automatically released to the seller.
  3. If a dispute is opened before funds are released, they remain in escrow until the dispute is resolved.

Buyers are strongly encouraged to inspect their item and confirm receipt promptly. Failure to confirm receipt or open a dispute within the applicable window will result in automatic fund release to the seller and forfeiture of any Buyer Protection claim.

4. How to Open a Dispute

If you have an issue with a transaction, contact us through the Contact Us form on the PitSwap website. Please include the following information in your message:

  • Your order or transaction ID
  • A clear description of the issue — for example, item not as described, item not matching photos, fitment guarantee not met, or item not received
  • Clear photos or video evidence showing the item you received compared to the listing, where applicable
  • Any relevant communication between you and the seller

Disputes must be submitted within 7 days of confirming receipt, or within 12 days of confirmed delivery if you have not yet confirmed receipt. Disputes submitted outside these windows will not be considered.

Once we receive your message, our team will review the situation and reach out to both parties as needed. We will assess the evidence and make a fair decision. PitSwap's decision on all disputes is final.

5. Outcomes of a Successful Dispute

If your Buyer Protection claim is approved, PitSwap may at its discretion:

  • Issue a full or partial refund to the buyer
  • Require the buyer to return the item to the seller at the seller's expense before a refund is processed
  • Release funds to the seller if the dispute is found to be unsubstantiated

Refunds are returned to the original payment method and may take 5–10 business days to process depending on your payment provider.

6. Abuse of Buyer Protection

PitSwap takes fraudulent and abusive dispute claims seriously. The following behaviors will result in immediate account suspension and may result in permanent banning from the platform:

  • Filing false or exaggerated dispute claims
  • Submitting fabricated or manipulated photos or evidence
  • Claiming an item was not received when delivery has been confirmed by a carrier
  • Returning a different item than what was received
  • Repeatedly opening disputes as a pattern of fraudulent behavior

PitSwap reserves the right to pursue legal action against buyers found to have engaged in fraudulent dispute activity.
